Doug Odell has been described as one of the hardest working bassists
in New York. As a well-respected player versed in rock, pop, metal, blues, R&B
and funk, Odell made his bones in countless original and cover projects before joining
prog metallists Ice Age
in 2001. Later known as Soulfractured,
the Long Island quartet set about reinventing itself -- in a heavier, more song-oriented
direction. Disillusioned by the evanescent nature of the music business, Soulfractured
parted ways towards the end of 2006.
Odell has made a repuatation for himself as a first-call recording session and live
musician-for-hire on projects as varied as musical comedy, full-band backed hip-hop
and acoustic pop.
Doug got his first exposure to music at a very young age, working in the pipe organ
business -- as a fifth generation descendant of one of the company's founders. Tuning
pipes with his father inspired Odell to study piano with private teachers and form
his first band with brother Ed on bass. Ed carried on the family legacy with J.H. & C.S. Odell,
while Doug's passion for music led him to advanced instruction on electric bass and
professional voice study.
