Band: Shit Happens

Zundert / Netherlands

Bassplayers that influence and inspired me mostly are those ones, that could create a special sound where the bass not only provides a fundation, but also strong melody-lines and riffs mixing together with the guitar(s), a recognizable sound, and actually being responsable to a great deal of the overall sound of a band. To mention some names: Geezer Butler, Cliff Burton, Joey DeMaio, Steve Harris, Rinus Gerritsen, Gary Thain, Neil Murray, Glenn Hughes, Phil Lynott. While the big public likes to put the spotlight on the singers and guitar players, remember that they're nothing without a good foundation!!

Actually I have started out being a drummer. My musical ambition and interest did not stop there, however. So in the years following I tried a lot of different other musical instruments. Some of them with succes, and some of them without any. But at this moment I consider myself as a fine drummer (left handed and -feeted) and as a reasonable, well actually very good but not so modest, bassplayer, making the band "Shit Happens" rock the socks off the audience with zot-metal, dark-punt and trash-blues. We might not be the best, but we have a lot of energy to share. And we are considering ourselves very seriously with that band, as you understand. You can visit us at: http://transfer.to/shit

On the attached photo you can see mee playing with Shit Happens in Kruisland (CrossCountry) during our millenium tour, in 1999 as a headliner for our Support Act Rowen Hèze.

Because of the musician virus streaming through the blood I spent my free time with some other bands and temporary projects. Maybe some of these names do ring a bell for somebody, but most of them were regionally active. It were bands like the Sjef Hendrickx Experience, All For One, The Case, Second Heaven, Pool of Sweat, De Buikjes... and who knows what will come across in the future....

My equipment consists of:
Wood1: One Fenix (by Young Chanc) jazz-bass, 4 strings, color black
Amp1: Sound City 200 Plus Tube Amp, directly out of the stone age, but still booming!
Amp2: Ampeg B1
Wood2: At this moment I am awaiting an Esh-stinger bass which is being built for me.
Fender Heavy Plectrums, and 2 kolenschoppen (I can't translate this).
Rexer wireless system

Most of my former equipment has been traded in for other instruments, for beer and for other important stuff.

Further on my noise-making-collection consists of Pearl BLX drumkit with K-Zildjians, Tama Swingstar old pans and cettles, Epiphone Les Paul Standard, Yamaha APX6, Roland D10, Boot harmonium, and a B-Brand BlockFlute.
