I’s be abliged to join your group!

Born on March 1ste 1976 in Winterswijk, The Netherlands. When I was about 15 years old (cannot remember exactly), I decided to start playing bass. My brother is a professional drummer, percussionist and orchestra and choir director. My father always played the guitar, but above all, he was a singer.
Music ran through the veins, I reckon ;).
Thanks to the influences my brother Gerben taught me, I became interested in jazz, fusion and latin when I was about 10 years old.
Maybe that my love for playing the bass, standing at the basics of a song and be a part of the beat and not so much the melody, was because I heard and saw my bro' playing the drums.
Anyway, I decided to learn. My teacher, Lene te Voortwis (a.o. Frank Boeyen Groep, Youp van 't Hek and Boudewijn de Groot and teachter at the Hilversum Conservatory), advised me to learn it lefthanded in order not to get into trouble when further experienced.
Together with my dad I drove to Haarlem to buy a Ibanez 1976 Jazz Bass 4 string and a Peavey amp.
I joined a big band, went on tour to Berlin and East Germany and was asked to join the rock band Hamlet (Red Hot CHilli Peppers, Rage against the Machine, Black Sabbath, that kind of stuff) and my first real gigs in places packed with drunken people were a fact!
A real amp was needed and I bought a SWR 160 Workingman's with a 15" SWR speaker.
After a while I traded the 15"for a 4x10" SWR speaker cabinet.
At the same time I joined a blues band with my brother Gerben (
http://www.myspace.com/crawatte) en played in several pubs in The Netherlands with a lot of fun!
In 1998 I joined a gospel pop band, called AMIO (
http://www.gospelbandamio.nl/) . For that kind of music I really needed a 5-string. To find a good 5-string for a reasonable (I was a student, after all, so no money) price was a hard job, because it had to be left-handed! I found a 5-string Bassplayer Musicman, a superb bass.
After AMIO I joined KraBAt (
www.krabat.info), a band with singer-songwriter music (jazzy / groovy / funky). For that purpose I bought a lefthanded semi acoustic Dean bass and a Samick 4 string fretless. The last one I sold and I bought a 4-string Vantage.

At this moment (2009) I play in Sonrise! (
www.jeugdkerksonrise.nl), Morphine & Chocolate (www.morphineandchocolate.com), the Passion and several gospel projects.
Apart from these bands I also played in theatre settings (musicals, choir concerts and other projects, such as Dw@rz, Sonrise (
www.jeugdkerksonrise.nl), the Passion, Spirit, etcetera.
At this moment I play on Glockenklang Bass Art amps and Glockenklang 2 x 10'DUO with a Boss GT6-B effects processor.
Soon I'd like to have a bass made by Peter Boekholt (
http://www.pboekholt.nl/nl.html) since the left-handed bass market is so small!

Musicman Stingray 5 string
Vantage 4 string
Dean semi-acoustic 4 string
