Hi Arni!

Thanks for letting me be part of your leftybass community!

Peace,

Frans Vollink

Started playing the bass at age 16, got hooked after a friend played Jaco Pastorius for me. Graduated from the conservatory (masters degree) in 1996. Co-founded "Wash and Go" in 1995, a traditional cool-jazz trio featuring NY guitarist Hendrik Helmer. With this trio I recorded two CD's: "Traditional Young Jazz" and "JJ" featuring hammondplayer John Hondorp. Also played in the "Nippy Noya Quartet" during this period. Since then gained a lot of live experience with "The Frontline Showband", a nine-piece coverband with hornsection. With this band I backed up a lot of Dutch artists. Co-founded "Roto-motion" in 2001, a soulful and funky hammondtrio featuring hammondplayer "John Hondorp. In 2003 I was approached by Bas Cornelissen, he wanted to do an "Acid-Jazz" project with me. This cooperation eventually resulted in the founding of the "Cornelissen-van Bavel-Vollink" trio with pianist "Rob van Bavel. With this trio I recorded the CD "One Spirit" during 2004, featuring wonderful guest soloists like Gerard Precenser, Susan Weinert, Randy Brecker, Richard Hallebeek and Lale Larson. This CD is up for release in 2005. More info about me can be found on my website http://www.fransvollink.com.
