Hi Folks!

Like each year before, it´s very quite in the lefty bass player scene during the summer times. Okay, we have better things to do as sitting in fornt of your computers.

But summer time ends and step by step the lefties come home and we get in contact again.

Since my latest update I got new contacts to lefty bassists I´m glad to introduce to you:

Udo Hans Pannekeet / Netherlands

Andrei Gorodetsky / Russia

Frans Papp / Netherands

Pierre Corval / France

Thank you very much!

Frans Papp´s profession is to create (lefthand) basses as well. Here are some examples:

Each lefty bassplayer who´s intrestested in his own website I like to say: Send me your informations and I will do the rest for you! No matter if you are a beginner, amateur or a professional!

Not inactive were my friends Frans Vollink and Julian Michel. Their websites got a update.

.

Clover XP15.5 lefthand

I have introduced Jörg Neugebauer form Clover a whil ago. He´s a luthier and a lefty too.

He told me, to produce lefty basses and he kept his promise. Some lefty Clover basses are getting ready and waiting for checking out. Here is for example the Clover XP15.5 (walnut) bass (price: 1.390 Euro)

Clover will produce 2 or 3 lefty basses of each model without order. Jörg said, by this way you have the chance to check my basses out.

If you are intrested, please get in touch with Clover Basses.

.

The Jerzy Drozd Legend X

Yves Carbonne is a wellknown bassplayer from France and a he likes to play "Monster Basses" (sorry Yves!). This is a 10string fretless bass in work, made by Jerzy Drozd.

Yves, please let us know how this bass sounds and how it is playable.

.

That´s it for now, friends. If you have some news for us, please let me know.

Stay tuned and have a nice time!

Hi Southpaws!

We are waiting a long time for spring here in Germany, but now it´s there! At this time of the year we are going creative and we are looking with a lot of optimism into the future.

I have decided to present a second list of lefy bassplayers I am / was in touch with over all the years. Compared with the first list, this international contains no personal and technical details. Only the name and where they are from.

In the meantime I´m in touch with more than 400 (!!!) lefthanded bassplayers from all over this world.

I´m glad to get detailed informations from 4 new lefties. So please welcome

Keith Horne / USA

Niko "Naigou" Kokko / Finland

Carlo Raviola / Italien

David Harvey / England

You will find new informations from Frederik Lubitz. Check out his updated website please.

Bad news has reached me from Joel / Sweden:

Hallo all you bassplayers out there! This is a WARNING to you all! DONT order anything from ESH basses or its founder mr Zoltan Naray. I orderd a lefthanded 5-string bass in june 2004. After e-mail correspondence With the president of the company (Zoltan Naray) he made it clear to me that it would be a risk for him to make a lefthanded bass because previous lefty customers did not pay for the bass once it was done. So in good faith I paid him 1260 Euro for the bass. I was promised to get the bass after four weeks, the bass never arrived, the only thing I got was empty promises week after week.
MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT, YOU CANT TRUST ONE SINGLE WORD HE SAYS. Months later i found out that Esh was out of business. After several e-mails to Zoltan where I made clear to him that I was going to take legal actions against him, he convinced me to not take legal actions and in return he promised to help me by building the bass himself, but he never did, my E-mails and phone calls never get answerd. Its now Marsh 2005 and still no bass and no money.

Zoltan Naray is now operating as a bass builder with out the ESH brand. BEWARE!! THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL BE DECEIVED.

If you need more info/questions please E-mail : Joel_starander@hotmail.com

The second bad news is, I have had small accident on my left hand! I have tp give up bassplaying for the next weeks / month! (Scream!)

I owned two new basses in my collection and I need more space. That´s the reason to split up with parts of my equipment: Marshall JCM 800 "Super Bass" Fullstack!!, and Ampeg SVT 810 cab. (Only intresting for bassplayers in the neighbourhood of Germany)

Thanks for all!

Arni

PS: Do you need something to dream? Here it is, just on Ebay / USA:

Hello bassplayer!

A lot of snow outside permit me to do some work for a new update. The kaminfire is blazing and a cup of "Glühwein" (mulled wine) is standing near beside me. That´s the right atmosphere for a new update. Right?

OK! Let´s start! What´s up?

The Internet offers these times a lot of very intresting lefty basses! I´m sad about the great inquiry for these basses, so I have only to dream for such "lefty dreams". :=(

Examples

Gibson EB-3, made in 1969

Höfner, made in 1964

Rickenbacker 4001, made in 1966

A new year means for me, spending my money for insurance companies and keep money for holidays. We want to make a trip to the mountains of Italy this year.

I´m very glad to feature you new lefties: Øivind Petersen from Danmark, Diego Saralegui from England and Edward Schultheiss from Russia (!!!) Thanks for making this website more intresting!

Harry Duns from England send me news about him. So his website became a update.

Ali Kulhia from Finland told me about plannings to organize rock happening: "Festival for Left-handeds" (Vasenkätisten Vestivaali) If this came true, it will be in Viiala / Finland. Hey Ali, I wish you good luck for this and let me know if I can help.

I think veryone of us is dreaming for a one of a kind bass. Creating a bass by myself, the own design and useing exotic woods. The German company Holz-Faszination offers a lot of wonderful woods.

Thanks for the intrest in our 3rd CD! With your orders I send some hundreds of Euros for donation to Unicef! Thanks to H.H. Babe and Helge Kleinz for your generous donaton!

Stay in touch!

Dec. 03, 2004

Hi friends!
I wish you and your families a merry Christmas time in peace and harmony. When I take a look back to 2004, I like to thank all of you for your great support. During this year, I enjoyed the conctact to you. I got a lof of informations and support.
For example, Wallace Culver is a lefty bassplayer and a luthier as well. He has worked for Taylor guitars and Tobias of Burbank (before they were purchased by Gibson).
You will see his upright below. If you are intresting in his basses, so please get in touch with him.

Please excuse me for the delay of my updates and reviews. In 2004 I had to do a lot with my private projects and to coordinate it with my dayjob. Often it took a long time to answer the emails I got. I hope 2005 will be a little bit quieter than 2004. I will do my best!

The 3rd CD project hits me just at this time and it took a lof of my leisure. But this project is coming to an end very soon and I hope to ship this double CD out before Christmas. Like the other CD-projects before, I will send you a copy just for the costs of production.
As soon as this double CD is available, I let you know. So please check out this website.

I´m gald to feature you
Dan Menapace / USA in our international list of lefty bassplayers. So please take a look at his website. The personal website of Peter Bertges got a new update.

The review about my meeting with Jürgen Steffen is complete. You can see it here.

But there are unfriendly things I have to tell you!
On November 23rd more than 60 guitars were stolen from the
Musik Produktiv (Ibbenbüren / Germany). This booty had a value of more than 150.000 Euros. So please take care with the internet auctions! If you are intrested in a guitar auction, please let you tell the serialnumber and take a look to the list of stolen guitars from the Musik Produktiv.

I also got a email from Chris Q. His Pedulla bass was stolen in New York City. Each one of us know what it mean to lose a coustom made bass. So please watch out for this instrument and let us know if you know where it is!

That´s it for now.

Take care of yourself!

Arni

Hi Arni,

My name is Wallace Culver and I am a left hand bass player and a professional luthier. After 20 years of being employed by a couple of prominent manufacturers, I have decided to venture on my own.
I have a new design for an upright bass that i have been working on for the past 3 years. I recently received a pat. pend. and would like to post it. on your site....

Stolen!

Hi Arni, you have a great site for us lefty bassists!

My name is Chris Q, I live in the US. I had a lefty 5 string Pedulla which was custom built for me by Mike P. himself. It was recently stolen out of our tour bus in New York City. It's the best bass I've ever owned and is irreplacable. Could you post a picture of it with my email just in case anybody sees it?

It's is a dark brown curly maple neck through, strung upside down. It doesn't say Pedulla on the headstock, but MVP 2xxx stamped in the back. There is an alien on the headstock. Thanks for your help and keep up the great work with the site!
